How long does the liver puncture procedure take?

Mar 11, 2022

Liver biopsy is usually done under ultrasound guidance.

The simple understanding is: after the anesthetic is administered, an empty tube needle is inserted under the guidance of ultrasound, and after inserting it into the position where the biopsy needs to be taken, cover the biopsy needle with the biopsy gun, eject the biopsy needle, and pierce the placeholder or the desired biopsy needle. The tissue is removed from the biopsy needle, and there is biopsy tissue in the biopsy needle tube.

It is only one more operation than ordinary liver ultrasound, but the technical requirements are very high, not only can it not damage the large blood vessels, but also penetrate the target tissue.

That's probably how it works.

The time of operation is different.

If angiography is required before puncture, the time will be longer, usually about 30 minutes.
